Description

The Manor House is likely of medieval origin, with floors added in the late 16th century, and extensions built in the early 18th century, altered again in the early 19th century. It is constructed of timber frame and coursed squared limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a concrete tiled roof with raised stone coped gables. Two ashlar gable stacks are present, one featuring a moulded cornice. The house is in an L-shape.

The two-storey front is irregular, with four bays, and a centrally placed six-panelled door with a fanlight. The door surround is rusticated, with a semi-circular head that is wider than the door opening. To the left of the door is a single glazing bar sash window, and to the right are two larger glazing bar sashes. Above are four similar windows on the first floor, all with ashlar lintels and keystones.

Inside, the earlier rear wing features massive beams and a fireplace bressumer. The dining room has a deeply chamfered beam with run-out stops. The original screens passage is visible as a change in floor level and a secondary beam. Evidence of an earlier timber frame remains. A corner cupboard has splat baluster vents and fielded and panelled doors. A staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail dates to the early 19th century.
