Description

The Manor is a house with origins dating back to the late 17th century, although it underwent significant rebuilding and remodelling in the late 18th century. It features local red and gault brickwork and has a steeply pitched plain tiled roof. The ridge stack reflects two different building periods, with the upper courses rebuilt, and there is an end stack at the southeast gable. The house has a single range and a three-bay plan, with the remains of the 17th-century structure located within the bay at the northwest end. The building is two storeys high with an attic.

The late 18th-century facade includes four recessed hung sash windows on the first floor, which are framed by gauged red brick surrounds and stone sills. The ground floor has similar windows set in segmental arches. The doorway features a pilaster doorcase with a flat hood, panelled reveals, and a door. There is a round arched head to a stairlight window in the rear wall.

Inside, there is one flight of a late 17th-century closed string staircase located in the bay at the north end, which has splat balusters, a moulded rail, and a square newel. A chamfered main beam in the same room is contemporary to the staircase. Additionally, there is a late 18th-century corner cupboard with a dentil cornice, raised and fielded panelling, and shaped shelving. Another room features similar panelling below a moulded dado.
