Description

Lavender Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located on Church Street in Wistow. It is constructed of whitewashed brick with a corrugated sheet half-hipped roof and brick ridge stacks. The cottage is single-storied with an attic. The front elevation has a three-window facade; the left window is an 8/8 sash window, while the others are casement windows. A central part-glazed panelled door is set within a small open porch. Two 2-light Lincolnshire dormers are visible on the roof. The rear elevation features 3- and 4-light casement windows, along with a 2-light Lincolnshire dormer incorporating a horizontal sliding sash window.

Inside, a winder stair and plank and panelled doors are present, some retaining original door furniture. There is some evidence of the original roof structure. Lavender Cottage is a relatively unaltered example of a cottage from this period and contributes to a notable group of historic buildings near the Church of St. John the Baptist.
