Description
The gateway and boundary wall to the forecourt of Stibbington Hall, dating from around 1625, is constructed from Ketton limestone and limestone rubble. It features an arched opening with a semi-circular head and a keystone adorned with jewel ornamentation. The structure includes moulded imposts, sunk spandrels, and stop-chamfered responds, which are flanked by Doric pilasters on pedestals. This design is similar to the entrance porch of Stibbington Hall. Above the arch, there is a moulded cornice topped with an open ogee-shaped gable that encloses a pierced stone circle, flanked by finials and an apex finial.
