Description

Stibbington Manor is a house that was originally a farmhouse, along with an outbuilding and a boundary wall. It dates from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 17th century and mid-19th century. The structure is built from coursed limestone rubble, featuring freestone and ashlar dressings, and rock-faced limestone. The roofs are covered with Collyweston stone slates and have parapet gables, with ashlar end stacks on the north and east gables, and a large ashlar ridge stack positioned to the right of the center, which has three stacks.

The building is two storeys high and follows a three-unit plan for the main range, which includes a rear service wing. There is a late 17th-century staircase addition with a lean-to roof in the angle, along with 19th-century additions to the rear and the south gable of the main range. On the west elevation, the main entrance is located to the left of center and features a flat stone canopy supported by scroll brackets, leading to a 20th-century door. The windows are ovolo moulded casement types with moulded cornices, including two six-light and two three-light windows on the ground floor, and one two-and-three-light window and two four-light windows on the first floor. The rear entrance has a shallow canted two-storey porch with a boarded door and a mullioned first-floor window.

The 19th-century outbuilding has a hipped roof and is connected to the main building by boundary walls to the south and east. Inside the house, there is a 17th-century staircase with two flights and turned balusters that has been resited, sealed hearths, stop-chamfered ceiling beams, and other 19th-century details.
