Description

This is a 17th-century single-aisled barn located to the east-south-east of The Gables Farmhouse on Hilton Road in Fenstanton. The barn is constructed of soft red brick and features a corrugated iron roof. It has a dentil brick eaves cornice and a parapet gable on the right side, with a repaired brick gable on the left. The structure consists of three bays, with a double, flat-arched entry in the central bay facing north-west. Inside, there are aisle posts with pairs of straight braces supporting the tie beams, and jacklegs resting on moulded wooden corbels. The barn has a later 18th-century king post roof with seven bays and double butt purlins.
