Description
Shenfield Cottage and Threehouse are two 17th-century timber-framed houses located on the south side of High Street, Hemingford Grey. Originally they were jettied to the street, and a projecting gabled wing extends to the rear, along with an early 18th-century stair turret. The houses are now encased in colour-washed brick up to the first floor, with the timber frame rough-cast rendered. The roof is tiled, with three ridge stacks. The windows consist of six ranges at both floor levels; these are horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars and modern casements. There is a panelled door. Internally, original inglenook hearths remain, along with deeply carved and moulded ceiling beams.
