Description
Nos. 3, 3A, and 3B West End is a house, now subdivided, dating from around 1790. It is built of gault brick, with paler bricks on the front wall and red brick arches over the windows. The building features a steeply pitched roof, possibly covered with Collyweston slates, and retains its original end stacks with a string course. The structure has a single range plan with an outshut at the rear, and it stands two storeys tall with attics, including three dormers.
The symmetrical front elevation has five recessed twelve-pane hung sashes set in flat gauged red brick arches. There is a plain band at the eaves height and between the storeys. The central doorway is framed by an original broken pedimented doorcase with moulded pilasters and a plain entablature. The original door consists of four raised and fielded panels alongside two flush panels, topped with a fanlight featuring radial and swagged glazing bars.
Inside, the layout includes a symmetrical arrangement of a parlour and dining room flanking a hall and stair bay. The original staircase has not been seen but is believed to be intact. There is also a late 18th-century door with six raised and fielded panels.
