Description
No. 25 West End is a house built around 1770, with 19th and early 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick and rendered, featuring a steeply pitched slate roof with an end parapet. The house has original gault brick end stacks topped with narrow tiles, similar to those on Nos. 19, 20, and 21 West End. It stands two storeys tall with an attic, framed by rusticated quoins. The first floor has three recessed casements, while the ground floor features two sixteen-pane hung sash windows on either side of the doorway. A rear outshut was added in the 19th century, and there is a kitchen wing with a brick and pantiled roof from the early 20th century.
Inside, one ground floor room showcases raised and fielded panelling in two heights, with a dentilled cornice and an ornamental band at dado height. The doorcases have paired architraves and cornices, with fluted pilasters flanking the original fireplace surround. Two first-floor chambers display similar details, including one with a shouldered fireplace and overmantel featuring a moulded cornice, and another with fluted pilasters flanking its fireplace.
