Description
This building is a cottage located at 9 London Road, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a corrugated tile roof with a brick stack at one end. The cottage has a single unit plan and is one storey high with an attic. The front facade includes a single range of windows, featuring a boarded 4/8 sash window, and a plank door to the right. Above, there is a boarded Lincolnshire dormer that has a damaged horizontal sliding sash window. The right end of the cottage is attached to Nos. 11 and 13.
At the rear, there is a plant door and a small single-light window to the right. Inside, the ground floor retains a chamfered bridging beam with ogee end stops and an open fireplace with a bressumer. Within the surviving opening of this fireplace, a smaller open fireplace and range from the 19th century have been inserted. Access to the single attic room is provided by a unique ladder-stair, which is boxed-in and features a simple top balustrade. The attic has wide floorboards and plank doors, and the plastered and papered-in roof is likely original.
