Description

The Lodge, gatepiers, and gates at Whittlesey Cemetery were built around 1860. They are constructed from yellow gault brick with stone dressings and feature steeply pitched roofs covered in banded tiles. The chimney stack has three diagonally set shafts. The building has an asymmetrical plan with its front facing the cemetery roadway. The doorway is designed in a two-centred arch with a label above it. To the right, the gable end has pointed arches above coupled windows, which are situated above a bay with similar arched windows. The gatepiers are made from the same brick and stone, while the gates are crafted from cast iron. This structure is included for its group value.
