Description

Leach's Mill is a grade II listed tower windmill located on a mound at 45 Lynn Road in Wisbech. The mill was rebuilt after a storm in 1797 and features a dark red brick tower that tapers noticeably. It stands eight storeys tall and was originally equipped with eight sails. A balcony is located at the third floor, where the entrance door can still be found. The main entrance is on the ground floor facing south. The mill has a saw-tooth brick band below its battlemented parapet and cambered brick arches over the window openings, which include some recessed casement windows. The roof, sails, and machinery have been removed. Leach's Mill was originally a corn mill and was last used in 1965. The Mill House associated with it was demolished around 1969.
