Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house with a 16th-century core, mainly featuring a front range built around 1800. It has a timber frame, with red brick on the east end and primarily gault brick. The steeply pitched roof is now covered with slates, featuring tumbled gables and end stacks, and the building has a T-plan layout. It stands two storeys tall with an attic at the front.
The nearly symmetrical front facade includes three gable dormers from around 1900, each with twelve-pane wood hung sashes. There are five recessed window openings on the first floor with sills, originally wood hung sashes but now fitted with late 20th-century metal windows. The ground floor has similar window openings and a doorway within a 19th-century brick porch. The rear range serves as a service wing from around 1800, constructed of gault brick and comprising one storey and an attic. Additionally, there is a late 19th-century dining room extension at the east side angle. The east gable end of the front range is made of red brick from around 1700, laid in English bond, and features a contemporary flush chimney stack.
Inside, parts of three bays from the 16th-century house remain. Two posts with their associated tie beams are visible, featuring stop chamfering and jowled heads, made from substantial timber similar to that found in Mansion Farmhouse on Main Street, Coveney. The ceiling frames on the ground and first floors are boxed and likely original, with intersecting main beams. Most other interior details date from around 1800, including a staircase with stick balusters.
