Description
The Hall is a farmhouse with origins in the medieval period, with additions and alterations from the 16th, 17th, and 19th centuries. It features an original surviving medieval cross-wing and a fragment of a larger building that was demolished around 1920, which now forms the present north wing. The south range is likely from the 17th century and has been partly rebuilt in the 19th century. A side stack was added in the 16th century. The structure is timber-framed, rendered, and has been replaced with clunch, topped with thatched roofs.
The building is two storeys high, with elevations facing east that include a tall side stack at the angle of the two ranges made of local brick, which is plastered below the eaves. There is a 19th-century side stack on the south gable, and the windows are modern, consisting of three first-floor and two ground-floor three- and four-light casement windows. A modern glazed entrance door is located on the north side.
Inside the north range, there are substantial timbers arranged in squares, with lap-jointed braces to the wall plates featuring splayed joggled scarf joints. The interior also includes re-used ceiling beams.
