Description
Poplars Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It features a hall and a cross-wing to the north, with an integral frame that is underbuilt, possibly in brick, and rendered up to the height of the first floor. The roof is covered with pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a local brick ridge stack that includes two 18th-century rebuilt diagonal shafts, and a rear stack to the cross-wing with upper brick courses that have been rebuilt. The timber frame is exposed, showcasing tension braces from posts to studs.
In the cross-wing, there is a two-light attic casement window, while the first floor has two three-light casement windows, and the ground floor features two four-light casement windows. A boarded door is located in the lobby entry position. Inside, many details are from the 18th century, including panelling, cornice, and a corner cupboard. There is also a chimney piece that features a landscape painting.
