Description

This house, dating to around 1700, is now used as shops and a dwelling. It is constructed of red and yellow gault brick with wide mortar joints. The southern bay has been rebuilt. The original hipped roof had a dentil eaves cornice, but it has since been covered with cement tiles, and the original stack has been removed. The building is two storeys high, with a plain band separating the floors. Segmental arches are visible above five recessed bays; four have been altered to accommodate later casement windows, while one remains an original blind opening, suggesting the other openings may have initially been intended to be blind as well. There are similar arches above two larger horizontal sliding sash windows which have square heads and drip moulds with return stops. At ground floor level, only part of an original drip mould is still visible.
