Description
Corpus Christi College's New Buildings, located at numbers 55 to 59 on Trumpington Street, were constructed in 1826 based on designs by William Wilkins. These buildings, known as the 'New Buildings', feature grey gault brick with stone dressings and are designed in the Gothic style. They rise three storeys above a basement and have two windows on each floor, arranged in a 1:1 pattern. The buildings include a canted bay that extends through the basement, ground, and first floors. There are string courses on the top floor that create drip moulds over the windows, which are three-light windows with stone mullions. The entrances have panelled doors set within four-centred arches, although the door of No 57 is blocked. The roof level is castellated and gabled, but the roof itself is not visible. Additionally, there are good cast-iron area railings surrounding the buildings.
