Description
The Upper Raymond Almshouses, built in 1826, are a terrace of ten houses located on Newtown Road. The south front features a symmetrical design in the "Gothick" style, highlighted by a central gable with battlements and flanked by pinnacles above a stone arched gateway, which is now blocked. The building is two storeys high and has ten windows. It is constructed of red brick and has a hipped slate roof with tall ridge stacks that have four diagonal shafts each. The first-floor windows are two-light casements with cinquefoil-traceried heads and hood moulds. The doorways also feature stone arched heads and braided doors, along with a later addition of a continuous portico.
