Description
22 and 24 Newtown Road are an early 19th century pair of semi-detached villas, built between 1837 and 1849. They are two stories tall, each with two windows. The villas feature a hipped slate roof with projecting eaves and are constructed from blue brick with red brick dressings. A stone band runs at the first floor level, and the recessed sash windows have gauged flat brick arches and glazing bars.
Number 22 has a wooden doorcase with pilasters that support an entablature and a projecting cornice, leading to a half-glazed door. Number 24 has an entrance with a stucco surround and a pediment above the door, which is set in a segmental-arched recess. Additionally, number 22 has a modern garage extension at the rear.
