Description
Pembroke College features a wall, gateway, and screen located between Ivy Court and New Court. This structure dates from the 19th century and includes red brick piers with a wrought iron screen set on a red brick plinth. The wall is a combination of medieval and later stone, also with a red brick plinth and coping, and it was constructed in 1634. The gateway leads to the Fellows Garden and incorporates a doorcase from the Old Hall that was reset in 1878. This doorcase is made of buff brick and features a pedimented, semi-circular arch with a cartouche displaying the College arms in the pediment. The red brick rusticated piers, topped with stone ball finials, date from around 1681-1682.
