Description
Botolph House, located at No 17 Botolph Lane, dates from around 1790 and is a two-storey building made of gault brick. It features stone bands at the first floor level and below the parapets. The façade includes three windows with flush frames and glazing bars, and a central round-headed doorway that has a six-panelled door with a fanlight above. This doorway is flanked by pilasters topped with "Adam" type caps, and there is a frieze decorated with swags and an enriched modillioned cornice. On the return front, there are two additional windows, which have wrought iron grilles on the first and second floors. Inside, the passage-hall boasts a quadripartite plaster vaulted ceiling, along with other original internal features. All the listed buildings in Botolph Lane form a group.
