Description
The building known as the Block between Ivy Court and Old Master's Lodge at Pembroke College was constructed in 1907 by W Caröe. It is made of brick with stone dressings and features massive grouped chimney stacks. The structure is two storeys high with an attic, and includes dormers or oriels topped with stone pediments. On the left side next to the archway, there is a first-floor arcade consisting of four bays designed in the Roman Doric order, complete with wrought iron grilles. The windows are a mix of two-, three-, and four-light mullioned styles. The slate roof complements the highly picturesque arched stone screen, which is designed in a late 17th century Baroque style and faces Pembroke Street.
