Description

The former gateway at Groves Barns is a late 16th century or early 17th century structure that has been incorporated into a late 18th century implement shed. The north wall of the shed is the original flank wall of the gateway, featuring a moulded plinth, a diagonal brick frieze, and a capping. The gateway itself has a tall round-headed archway made of rusticated voussoirs, with the remains of a frieze above it and a capping. This archway is flanked by Doric pilasters, which are made of brick and attached to piers.
