Description

The Forge is a 17th century cottage that was formerly a smithy and smithy cottage, located on Ockendon Road in North Ockendon. The building is timber-framed, rendered, and colourwashed. It has two storeys and two bays, with a modern tile roof that is hipped at the south end and gabled at the north end, which appears to be truncated. There is no stack present. A rear wing extends at right angles and is 1.5 storeys high, featuring a modern porch on the left side and two sash windows on the right, along with a brick stack on the rear roof slope. Additionally, there is a weatherboarded wing on the north side that has a pantiled roof hipped at the east.
