Description

This is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house situated on Victoria Avenue. It’s built on a distinctive half H-shaped plan, featuring cross wings projecting at both the north and south ends. The house is two storeys high. The windows are a mix of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars and casement windows. The ground floor currently has 20th-century shop fronts incorporated into the cross wings, while the central block features a six-panel door. A tall cart entrance is positioned through the north end of the central block. The roof is tiled. The house forms a group setting with the nearby Church of St Mary and number 255 and numbers 269 to 275 (the odd numbers) on Victoria Avenue.
