Description
Monks Thatch is a 17th-century cottage located on Cherry Orton Road in Orton Waterville. The building features coursed stone rubble and has a thatched roof with gabled ends. An off-centre brick chimney stack is present, and the cottage is one storey with an attic. It has a three-window range with old three-light casements and timber lintels on the ground floor, as well as gabled dormers in the attic. The left-hand door is boarded and has a flat hood above it.
Adjoining to the south is an outbuilding, which dates from the 18th or 19th century. This structure is also made of coursed stone rubble and has a lower, steeply pitched Welsh slate roof with gabled ends. It is one storey and features two modern casements. Both buildings are included for their group value. The cottage is inscribed with "1744 JC".
