Description

Rose Cottage is a pair of late 17th-century cottages situated on the west side of Cherry Orton Road, Orton Waterville. The cottages are constructed of painted stone rubble and have thatched roofs with gabled ends; the south end of the roof has stone coping. They are one storey high with an attic, and feature a three-window range. There are two dormers at the eaves, and evidence of modern casement windows and two modern dormers. Number 36 has a modern thatched porch, while Number 38 has a modern thatched hood. A brick ridge stack is located off-centre, and there is another stack at the south end. To the right (north) of Number 36 is a single-storey, one-bay extension built of painted rubble with a thatched roof and a gabled end.
