Description
The Museum is an 1816 building located at 1500 Priestgate in Peterborough. Originally a private house, it later served as a hospital. The structure is built of ashlar with a slate roof and stands three storeys high. It features a central pediment and has a plain string course and parapet. There are five windows, with the central window section projecting forward beneath the pediment above the portico porch, which is supported by plain fluted columns. The windows are set in recesses and have stone architraves, with a string course continuing above their heads. The ground floor and the area above the tiled porch have longer windows. An iron balustrade adorns the porch, which has double doors made of glass and wood. To the left, there is a later two-storey wing. The Museum, along with Nos 26 to 30 (even) Trinity Presbyterian Congregational Church, forms a group of buildings.
