Description

Number 49 on Priestgate is a building from the 18th century, constructed of brick with a modern tile roof and modern brick added to the rear. It features a wood and moulded dentil cornice and a repaired parapet. The building has two storeys and attics, with three double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars. There are also three flat-topped dormers with glazing bars. The entrance consists of a three-panel door topped by a glazed rectangular fanlight, all set within a stone architrave that has a small cornice. A stone plinth is present, and there is a 'Sun' Insurance plaque displayed. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 43, 45, 49, 51, and 55.
