Description
26 Priestgate is a building with origins in the 18th century and alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of brick and was refronted in ashlar during the mid to late 19th century. The building has a modern tiled roof and consists of two storeys with attics. It features three hipped dormers without glazing bars and five windows set in moulded architraves with tabs. The arcaded parapet is adorned with foliated capitals, and there are rusticated quoins at the corners. The 19th-century doorway has bolection stone mouldings and includes a six-panel door topped with a plain rectangular fanlight. There is a plinth, two steps leading up to the door, and two inset foot scrapers. This building is included for its group value with Nos 26 to 30, the Trinity Presbyterian Congregational Church, and The Museum.
