Description

The Cedars is an early 18th-century house with a remodeled facade from the early 19th century, located on the north side of Peterborough Road in Castor. The building features coursed stone with rusticated quoins, while the front is rendered. It has a steeply pitched hipped roof made of Collyweston stone and consists of two storeys and an attic. The house has three bays, with the center bay being advanced. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and the first-floor center window is framed in an eared architrave. The ground floor has a Greek Doric porch with fielded panel double doors and a rectangular fanlight above. There are also two flat-roofed dormers and ashlar chimney stacks with cornices.

At the rear of the property is an outbuilding wing, likely built in the late 17th or early 18th century, which probably served as stables. This outbuilding is constructed of coursed stone rubble and has a steeply pitched Collyweston stone roof with coped gable ends. It is two storeys high with an attic and features a three-window range with small casements and a 19th-century sash window. The outbuilding includes double doors leading to a coachhouse and has a ridge stack that is off-center. It is connected to the main house by a wing from the 18th or 19th century.
