Description
25 Mill Road is a cottage that may have medieval origins. It is built from coursed stone rubble and is positioned at right angles to the road. The cottage features a thatched roof with a gabled end and has one storey with an attic. There are three windows, which include modern and 19th-century casements, and one eyebrow dormer. The cottage has end brick stacks and a fire insurance plaque on the south end. Notably, in the gable end facing the road, there is a 14th-century blocked window with a two-light pointed arch traceried head. This may be either reused material or suggest the presence of a chapel mentioned in the Victoria County History, Volume II for Northamptonshire, page 505. Inside, there is a cambered ceiling beam with a stopped chamfer.
