Description
Castle Farmhouse is a house dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, with alterations from the 18th century. It features a long stone range built with coursed stone and has a steeply pitched Collyweston stone roof with gabled ends. The north gable has moulded coping. The building is two storeys high and has four windows across its front. On the west side, there are sash windows with glazing bars set in stone frames that include keyblocks. There are also panelled doors on either side, which are framed in stone. The east side has a string course and a projecting gabled staircase wing, topped with stone coping and a crenellated finial. This side also displays stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds and cornices, some of which are blocked. The north gable end features two 15th-century twin light stone windows with arched lights and hoodmoulds. The core of the house may be linked to the Chantry mentioned in the Victoria County History of Northamptonshire, Volume II, page 505.
