Description
The Cock Public House is a two-storey timber-framed building with origins dating back to the 17th century or possibly earlier. The front was rebuilt in red brick in the early 19th century and features an extension of one bay that includes a waggon-way to the left. It has a gable end slate roof over the front range. The first floor has 19th-century sash windows, while the ground floor has a pub window and doorway, both with a moulded cornice on consoles. The timber-framed structure extends back from the two bays of the front in an L shape. A significant portion of the studding, including the bressumer, is exposed to the waggon-way. Additionally, there is a secondary two-storey timber-framed wing with straight bracing and lighter studding that extends to the rear, likely built in the late 17th century.
