Description
South Cottage is a pair of 18th-century cottages located on Hulcote and Salford Broughton Road, near Salford. The cottages originally had a timber frame, although parts of number 18 have been rebuilt in brick. The ground floor is colourwashed render, while the first floor is clad in weatherboards. The roof is thatched. The cottages are two storeys high. The ground floor has four three-light casement windows with glazing bars. The first floor has four two-light and two three-light casement windows. Number 18 features a glazed gabled porch with a thatched roof, whereas number 20 has an open gabled porch with a thatched roof, both sheltering a plank door. A single red brick stack runs along the ridge, and red brick external stacks are present on both gable ends. A small single-storey addition extends from the left-hand gable.
