Description

Nos 20 and 21 on School Lane are a pair of cottages from the Southill Estate, marked with a circular plaque that reads "S W 1797," indicating their association with Samuel Whitbread. The cottages are constructed with colourwashed roughcast over a timber frame and feature a half-hipped thatched roof. They have a total of four rooms, arranged over one storey with attics. The front elevation includes two three-light casements on the ground floor and two eyebrow dormers with two-light casements above. A central mottled brick ridge stack is topped with two diagonally-set shafts. The gable ends have plain doors and additional two-light casements.
