Description
Church Cottage is a house that was formerly two properties, belonging to the Southill Estate. The western part dates from the 18th century and features colourwashed roughcast over a timber frame with a clay tile roof that is half hipped to the west. It has a two-room plan, is one storey high with attics, and includes a ground floor with one two-light casement window with glazing bars, an 18th-century canted bay window with sashes and glazing bars, and a part-glazed door. There is also one box dormer in the attic, which has a two-light casement window with glazing bars, and a brick integral stack at the west end.
The eastern part has a plaque on the gable end that reads "W H W 1856." This section is constructed of chequered brick and has a fishscale tile roof. It also has a two-room plan but is two storeys high. The ground floor features one window under a cambered head, and there are two first-floor windows, all of which are two-light casements with glazing bars. The entrance includes a fielded panel door in a simple surround, and there is one brick ridge stack along with one brick integral stack at the west gable end.
