Description
Blunham Bridges consists of two adjoining bridges that span the River Ivel. The western bridge dates from the 17th to 18th century and features 19th-century additions. It is constructed from coursed ironstone and limestone, with later sections made of red brick. This bridge has five arches and four stone-coped cutwaters on the south side. The parapet has mostly been rebuilt in red brick, incorporating vitrified brick and some stone coping. The eastern bridge is a late 19th-century structure with a single span, supported by iron girders mounted on coursed stone, and it has simple ironwork railings. The site is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
