Description
Utcoate Cottage is a house with medieval origins, featuring a mix of 18th century, 19th century, and earlier elements. The ground floor is primarily constructed of coursed ironstone, while the rest of the building is mainly red brick with a chequerwork pattern in flared headers, with the 19th century section in plain red brick. The roofs are tiled and date from the 20th century.
The main block, located to the south, is two storeys high with attics, and has 18th and 19th century two-storey additions on the north side. The ground floor includes three casements of varying sizes, all set in an enlarged opening with a brick surround. The first floor features three sash windows with glazing bars, with their frames almost flush against the wall. There is one box dormer that contains a sash window with glazing bars, and to the right, a 19th century gabled dormer with a two-light casement. A 19th century brick porch with a false gable is also present, along with a lean-to conservatory to the right of the porch. The building displays a variety of ridge and gable end chimney stacks.
