Description
Marquis House is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the 17th century and likely altered in the 18th century. It features timber-framed construction with roughcast render, while the ground floor is encased or rebuilt in brick, all of which is colourwashed. The building has a 20th-century tile roof and is designed in a T-plan, comprising two storeys with a cross-wing that appears to be a later addition.
On the left-hand gable and the main block, there is one two-light casement window with glazing bars on each floor. The main block also has a plank door located near the junction with the cross-wing. A red brick multiple ridge stack is positioned in line with the door, and there is a red brick external stack on the side elevation of the cross-wing. Additionally, there is a lean-to outbuilding attached to the right-hand gable end of the main block.
