Description
Clawders Hill Farmhouse is a house that has been subdivided into two properties. It dates back to the 16th century and features a substantial close-studded timber framed structure. The exterior is mostly covered in colourwashed roughcast render, with some tile hanging on the first floor of the west cross-wing. The roofs are made of clay tiles. The building consists of a hall and cross-wings, with the central block being one storey with attics, while the cross-wings are two storeys high. The west cross-wing has a first-floor jetty on the north elevation.
On the south elevation, there is a variety of casement windows, mostly with glazing bars, including three on the ground floor and four on the upper floor, one of which is a gabled dormer in the central block. There are two part-glazed doors at each end of the main block, each featuring a flat hood supported by cut brackets. The central block has a tall rendered multiple ridge stack with a moulded cornice, while the side elevations of the cross-wings have red brick external stacks. There are single-storeyed outbuildings that adjoin the farmhouse to the west and east.
