Description
No. 51 High Street is a house dating from the late 18th century, with 19th-century additions. The original part is constructed of red brick featuring flared headers, while the later additions are also in red brick. The building has a slated two-span roof. The original two-storey block, which includes attics, is located to the west and has a gable end facing the road. It has been extended by a parallel block to the east.
The symmetrical west elevation features two sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, set beneath gauged brick heads. The first floor has two sash windows and two box dormers with casements that are positioned closer together than the ground floor windows. The central round-headed doorway is adorned with a moulded panel door and a semi-circular fanlight that has radiating glazing bars. A red brick multiple ridge stack is present, and while the elevation has a mansard roof, it is built out to the rear.
