Description
No. 20 Market Place is a house from the early 19th century that was reworked later in the 19th century. The front elevation is made of mottled yellow brick, while the other sides are of red brick. The ground floor of the front is faced in ashlar and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and attics, with a symmetrical facade that has three windows. The ground floor includes a part-glazed central door, flanked by simply moulded pilasters that support a continuous cornice. Each of the outer bays has a tripartite sash window. On the first floor, there are three sash windows with glazing bars, set under gauged brick flat heads. The attic features two hipped dormers with sashes that also have glazing bars. There are integral brick stacks at both gable ends, and there is a single-storeyed brick addition with a hipped slate roof on the left gable end. This building is included for its group value.
