Description
No. 16 Market Place is a house from the early 18th century, which may have been refronted from an older building. The structure is made of vitrified red brick laid in header bond, with red brick dressings, and has a 20th-century tile roof. It stands two storeys high with a slightly irregular three-bay facade. The first floor features three sash windows with glazing bars and moulded wood frames that are almost flush with the wall, all under gauged brick flat arches. On the ground floor, there is a similar sash window on the left-hand side and a later, broader sash window on the right-hand side. These windows flank a doorway that contains a part-glazed six-panel door, which has a moulded surround topped by a flat hood supported by decorative cut brackets. There is a red brick gable end stack on the left-hand side.
