Description
The Reject China Shop is a house from the earlier 18th century that has been converted into commercial premises. It features red brick walls, which are darker in color and include many vitrified bricks, with lighter dressings. The building has a steep hipped roof covered in 20th-century tiles and stands three storeys tall. The facade has six bays, with the left-hand bay being slightly broader than the other five.
The ground floor retains one original window, while the first and second floors each have six windows, although three of the second-floor windows are blind. All windows are sash style, with wide moulded wood cases and segmental heads that are almost flush with the wall. Each window includes glazing bars and moulded sills, and the gauged brick segmental arches above them have fluted keystones. Brick aprons are present below all sills.
The ground floor features a square-headed carriage arch in the left-hand bay. The four right-hand bays are occupied by a later 19th-century canted double shop front, which includes moulded pilasters, a cornice, and central double doors. Giant order pilasters at each end support a moulded cornice and a deep stone-coped parapet.
