Description
This is a house, originally built in the 16th century and significantly altered in the earlier 19th century, with the ground floor now functioning as a shop. It is a substantial timber-framed building with brick infill, though the front elevation has been refaced and raised by one storey. The front elevation is stuccoed and colourwashed, while the other elevations are mostly covered in colourwashed roughcast render; some timbering remains visible on the side elevation. The roof is slate at the front and clay tile at the rear. The building comprises a three-storey front block and a two-storey gable at the rear. The first and second floors each have three sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has two original doors in the outer bays, each with six moulded panels and a rectangular fanlight above. The right-hand doorway retains a pilastered surround with flat wood on ornamental cut brackets. The left-hand doorway has been incorporated into a 20th-century shop front, with a bowed window added to the right.
