Description

The building comprises two properties, originally a single dwelling, dating back to the 17th century, with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. The timber-framed structure has a ground floor rebuilt using a mix of coursed rubble and brick. The first floor is rendered and colourwashed, and the roof is covered with clay tiles. The original layout was a 3-room plan, to which an 18th-century hipped bay was added to the west end and a shallow 19th-century gable was added projecting from the southeast. The building is two storeys high, featuring mostly 2-light leaded casement windows. The south elevation incorporates 20th-century doors. A red brick double ridge stack is present on No. 46, while Malting House Cottage has later 19th-century yellow brick stacks. The eastern end of Malting House Cottage features a later 19th-century colourwashed brick and slate section.
