Description
The Parish Church of St Margaret is a small church with origins dating back to the 12th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and features old clay tile roofs. The church underwent some renovation by Clutton around 1875. The Norman nave was originally aisleless and includes a chancel arch decorated with chevrons. The chancel was rebuilt in the late 13th century, during which a south chapel was added to the west of the chancel arch. The church has a two-stage unbuttressed tower with a datestone from 1615 set into the parapet. Inside, there is a 17th-century two-decker pulpit, benches from the 16th and 17th centuries, and chancel gates dated 1637. A nave roof truss is dated 1669, and there is a modern porch added to the structure.
