Description
Holmwood House is a house dating from around 1860, constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a roof made of banded fishscale and plain old clay tiles. The building has a three-bay plan and is two storeys high, featuring chimney stacks with three or four tall, slender moulded flues. The south elevation showcases two large gables and one small central gable. The large and end gables are adorned with bargeboards that have a biblical text inscribed on them, while the small central gable features bargeboards decorated with raised crosses. On the first floor of the south elevation, there are three three-light casement windows with glazing bars, and the ground floor has two similar casement windows flanking a central doorway, which is topped by a gabled bracketed doorhood. The corners of the building are supported by clasping buttresses.
