Description
Brook Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a 19th-century block added to create a double pile plan. The back wing, which is from the 16th century, features close-studded timber framing and an old clay tile roof, along with a linked double diagonally-set red brick ridge stack. The 19th-century front block is constructed of red brick and has a 20th-century tile roof, with red brick ridge stacks at the gable ends. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front elevation. The central front door is adorned with a semi-circular fanlight that has radiating glazing bars, and the door itself is a six-panel design with the top two pairs being fielded. A decorative cast iron porch supported by narrow fluted columns enhances the entrance. On either side of the front door are two canted bays, which feature sash windows and a moulded cornice. The first floor contains three sash windows with glazing bars. At the rear, there is a one-storey lean-to extension and a plain conservatory on the south elevation.
